    v0.3.0 Pre-release

khemist released this 2026-08-01 12:32:04 -05:00 | 20 commits to main since this release

    ALWX Radar Android — v0.3.0

Touch/Android optimization pass over the native port, plus a restructured settings menu.

    Added

    • Settings drawer split into Layers and About tabs.
    • About tab: copyright notice, Support contact (alwx.org), app/version info, and Acknowledgements (NWS Alerts, NEXRAD radar sourcing, NHC storm tracks/tropical systems, lightningmaps.org lightning data, NEXRAD site directory).

    Changed (since v0.1.0)

    • Layer controls moved out of a small dropdown into a hamburger settings drawer.
    • Map now defaults to the user's last-known location at state-level zoom on launch; the location button flies to county-level zoom instead of street-level.
    • Background polling (alerts/storm tracks/tropical/lightning) now pauses when the app is backgrounded and is gated on layer visibility.
    • Touch-tuned map gestures (no rotate/tilt), bounded zoom range, 48dp touch targets.

    Fixed

    • Launch crash caused by MaterialSwitch requiring a Material3 theme; replaced with SwitchMaterial.

    Assets

    • ALWX-Radar-Android-v0.3.0.apk — debug-signed APK, installable directly on device (enable "install unknown apps" for your browser/file manager).
