    ALWX Radar Android — v0.4.1 (crash fix)

    Fixes a launch crash reported in v0.4.0.

    Root cause

    ic_chevron_right.xml's SVG arc commands concatenated flag digits without separators (e.g. a1,1 0 000,1.41), which Android's vector path parser mishandled, corrupting the compiled drawable in a way that surfaced as a misleading Resources$NotFoundException` ("file not found") at inflate time rather than a path-parsing error. AAPT2 and lint both accepted the file at build time, so this only reproduced at runtime.

    How it was found

    Static analysis (theme attributes, MapLibre API signatures, native library property support, view ID cross-referencing, dependency conflicts) turned up nothing. Set up a local KVM-accelerated emulator to get a real stack trace, bisected it to this one drawable via a diagnostic swap, fixed the path data, and verified the rebuilt APK launches cleanly, opens the settings drawer, switches tabs, and opens dialogs correctly.

    ALWX Radar Android — v0.4.0

    Settings menu

    • Help tab sections (Support, About, Acknowledgements) are now tappable links that open their content in a dialog instead of always-expanded text.
    • Added a Changelog section summarizing every release so far (v0.1.0–v0.4.0).
    • Added Terms of Use and Privacy Policy sections, including a plain-language note that location is used only to center the map locally and is never sent to ALWX or any third party.

    Lightning

    • Strikes now render as fading bolt icons matching radar.alwx.org's canvas-drawn bolt, instead of plain circles, plus the web app's pulse-ring effect for brand-new strikes. Age-based fade curves ported directly from the site.

    NWS alerts

    • Tapping an alert now shows a popup with a header colored and labeled to match the alert's severity (same event-color table used for the map fill/outline), plus a More button that opens the full alert text (description + instructions) in the same color-coded style, formatted for readability.

    Launcher icon

    • Replaced the previous adaptive-icon foreground, which combined a crude hand-drawn Alabama outline with side-by-side "AL"/"WX" text at the wrong aspect ratio and no safe-zone inset, causing it to clip/distort under every real launcher's circular/squircle mask.
    • New design uses Alabama's actual boundary geometry with "AL" stacked over "WX" centered inside the state body, verified from the PNGs actually packaged into the built APK.

    ALWX Radar Android — v0.3.0

    Touch/Android optimization pass over the native port, plus a restructured settings menu.

    • Touch-tuned map gestures (no rotate/tilt), bounded zoom range, 48dp touch targets.
