    What's New

    Alert cards now show a clean two-line preview:

    Bold title: Tornado Watch
    Subtitle: Tornado Watch issued August 13 at 2:12PM CDT until August 13 at 2:22PM CDT by NWS Birmingham AL

    • Removed the duplicate all-caps title and raw office call-sign rows
    • Issued and expiration times are parsed from the alert and formatted in local time
    • WFO call signs (KBMX, etc.) are mapped to full office names for all 100+ NWS offices
    • NWS API alerts retain their existing formatted headline unchanged
    • Format is now consistent between NWWS and NWS API alert sources

    What's New

    Two-layer precision alert filtering:

    • UGC county/zone filtering (server-side): FCM only delivers to devices subscribed to affected counties — the first gate that eliminates most out-of-area alerts
    • Polygon filtering (client-side): For Tornado Warnings, Severe Thunderstorm Warnings, Flash Flood Warnings, and other storm-based products, the app checks your GPS location against the exact warned polygon. If you're outside it, the alert is stored in the Alerts tab but no notification is shown.
    • Fail-open safety: If GPS is unavailable or the alert has no polygon, you always get the notification — a life-safety alert is never silently dropped
    • Fixed UGC parser bug: was only capturing the last county in a sequence; now correctly expands all abbreviated codes (e.g. ALC073-075-083-125)

    Language and copy cleanup — removed informal wording from privacy policy and terms

    Installation: Download app-release.apk, enable Install from unknown sources for your browser, and sideload. Re-open the app after install to re-register and pick up new ugc_ALC125 / ugc_ALZ026 subscriptions.

    • Alert expand-in-place: Tapping an alert card now expands/collapses the full bulletin text inline — no more truncated popup dialogs
    • Format parity: NWS API and NWWS Firebase alerts now use identical field mapping (title-cased event, full description, consistent area field)
    • Office-filtered notifications: NWWS alerts are now delivered only to devices registered for their local WFO topic (wfo_KXXX), eliminating alerts from distant offices
    • Full data payload: FCM data now carries the complete bulletin text (content key) so the app always has the full alert regardless of foreground/background state
    • Production app ID: Removed dev flavor; app ID is now org.alwx
    • Removed "Test Alert" menu item
